pH is a numeric scale to specify the acidity or basicity. pH scale runs from 0-14. Neutral pH is 7.0. The higher the pH (greater than 7) the more alkaline, while a pH lower than 7 is acidic. pH varies throughout our human body. Take a look at the pH of various body fluids
- Saliva - 6.8-7.4 - neutral to slight alkaline
- Urine - 6.0 - acidic. More acidic especially in the morning due to the metabolic process of waste elimination from the body.
- Blood - 7.365 - 7.45 - Slightly alkaline.

pH operates on a logarithmic scale with multiples of 10. Therefore, it takes ten times the amount of alkalinity to neutralize an acid.

A jump from 7 to 6 doesn’t seem like a lot but in actuality it will take ten times the amount of alkalinity to neutralize.

Acidic Vs Alkaline diet
A majority of us are increasing the acid levels of our body by excessive consumption of coffee, milk products, refined sugar and animal products throughout the day. These foods constantly withdraw energy, resulting in body fatigue. They also cause dental problems and affects the immune system in the long run.
By eating more alkaline foods such as leafy greens, veggies, sprouts, avocados, fruit juices, green salads, we can flood our bodies with chlorophyll, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and oxygen. These alkaline foods supply the body with the much needed energy, improve the immunity and dental hygiene.
